What is Cryotherapy?

Available in Scottsdale

Whole-body cryotherapy is a state-of-the-art recovery treatment that exposes the body to extremely cold temperatures (as low as -200°F) for a short duration—typically two to three minutes. This brief exposure triggers powerful physiological responses that help reduce inflammation, improve circulation, and accelerate recovery.

At Optimyze Wellness Center in Scottsdale, we use the CryoBuilt Everest Peak, one of the most advanced whole-body cryotherapy systems available in the U.S. This next-generation machine delivers consistent, full-body cooling through safe, electric technology, no liquid nitrogen required.

How it Works

When your body is exposed to subzero temperatures in the CryoBuilt Everest Peak, the skin’s surface temperature drops rapidly, causing vasoconstriction, a natural process that draws blood away from the extremities and toward your core.

As soon as you exit the chamber, vasodilation occurs, allowing fresh, oxygen-rich blood to flow back through the body. This process helps flush out toxins, reduce inflammation, and deliver nutrients to muscles and tissues, accelerating healing and recovery.

The cold exposure also stimulates the release of norepinephrine and endorphins, which improve mood, reduce stress, and enhance overall well-being. Regular sessions can strengthen the immune system, increase resilience, and help your body adapt better to everyday stressors.

FAQ'S
No, infrared sauna cause a significant amount of heat stress and penetrate deep into the tissues. It is not recommended to place the body under stress during pregnancy.

During an infrared sauna session, heart rate increases, blood flows to the extremeties, blood vessels dilate, and our body starts to cool itself through sweating. During this process we release toxins, water, and electrolytes. It is important to stay hydrated before, during, and after your session to include adequate electrolytes.

Heat stress activates the sympathetic nervous system, increasing heart rate and starting cooling process. By activating the sympathetic nervous system (fight or flight mode), your body may experience some of the discomfort associated. Always remember to build up your tolerance gradually and pay attention to your body. One may find that they can improve their tolerance to stress with weekly practice.
